Storyboard
As I was doing a lego stop motion animation, I decided to make a storyboard rather than a shot list. When I was doing my research, I often read that you have to change shots depending on how things work out while shooting in stop-motion, as some shots might not work out how you anticipated.
It would also mean I could change and do what I think was working at the time rather than keeping to a shot list that might not be working.
Initially, I was going to sketch my storyboard out, but because of the amount of time it would take, I decided to take screenshots of each of the five scenes I was curating in stop motion.
I took screenshots of each of the five scenes on Youtube.
Animatic
I then decided to put all my screenshots into adobe premiere and make an animatic.
This enabled me to work out the time I needed to spend on each shot when I was shooting my Lego stop-motion animation. It also allowed me to match up the sound and voice dialogue to make sure my shots lined up with the voice of the charters that I took from Youtube.
Although it took me two days to get all five animatics done, I think it helped me. It allowed me to get a sense of the order of each shot, the changing and timing of each frame, and get a quick understanding and idea of how my final film will look and feel.

Soundtrack & Audio
I have to decide on the piece of music for my final film. I want to have that TV show quality and be cinematic and atmospheric. I will pick it when I have my movies and motion graphics all done in Premiere. I think I will use one of the main songs from each film as the intro music to each clip. I will then fade put the music to the dialogue sound.
I have composed a list below of the songs I want to feature in each clip and some of the sound effects I might add at the end.

Voiceover
I don't want to do a voice-over for my film as I don't think I have the right qualities to do this. I also find it hard to listen to my voice.
Most Youtube videos that I have been looking at have American accents, and the people that are doing the voiceovers all sound very confident. I have looked at the text to voice software. This website called, https://naturalreaders.com, allows you to create AI voiceovers. I experimented with using some parts of my script.
You can listen to how it works here.
It works pretty well, but the voice feels robotic. It sounds like Siri or a SatNav. I don't think it will have an enthusiastic sound like Youtubers. The website also enables you to change the accent of the voice so that it can have an American pronunciation.
I still donโt think it sounds right, so I have decided not to have a voice. Instead, I will concentrate on getting a nice piece of catchy intro music to set the tone I want for my film. I will also put more effort into creating some nice motion graphics in After Effects. The motion graphics can introduce each scene โ with the film's name, scene, and number countdown.
Story/Narrative
WORKING TITLE:
Awesome Auteur Animation
OVERVIEW OF PROJECT:
I am recruiting a Top 5 Youtube video promo in stop-motion.
The Top 5 will be 5 of my favourite movie scenes from auteur directors. The sets will be made from lego stop motion. The scenes I have chosen are a mixture of some of the most famous iconic scenes, like The Bible scene in Pulp Fiction. In addition, I have chosen other scenes to do some after effects, like the Ikea scene in Fight Club.
GENRE:
Autuer Animation
DURATION/AMOUNT:
I'm hoping my film will be between 3 and 5 minutes, depending on how long each stop motion scene is. I imagine each scene will be between 30 seconds and no more than one minute.
I will also need to do some motion graphics in after effects for my intro and ending titles. And I will also need to make some motions to introduce each scene, for example, Number 5, Number 1, etc.
The final time of my film will be determined when I finish editing, as I may need to redo certain shots.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
I spoke to a lot of my friends about my project. Most of my friends are my primary target audience, between 16 and 19. They all like using lego as a stop motion as they are all were Lego fans as kids. They also like the idea of it being only 5 mins long as they all watch many short videos on Youtube.
Production Schedule
The production schedule outlines the filming schedule.
I have decided to use a spare room in my Mums work to do all the film shooting. I decided to do this because I needed lots of space for each lego scene I created. It also meant I could leave everything in a safe area without fear of getting broken or getting moved.
I have broken down the production schedule to one scene per day. This should enable me to film each scene probably and deal with any changes I might need to make like, rebuilding the lego sets, lighting issues, and re-shooting any scenes that donโt look that good.

Tuesday 10th May โโ Fight Club

Set Design
Overview
I have looked at the actual scenes of my chosen films carefully on Youtube and film. I want to try and recreate the scenes as realistically as possible in Lego. Thankfully I have a lot of Legos at home and should be able to make realistic sets for each scene.
I have made filming more straightforward by creating five sets, one for each scene. Pulp Fiction will be shot using close-up camera shots to capture the characters' facial expressions in Pulp Fiction.
Fight Club will also have a tightly cropped camera angle. Unlike Pulp Fiction, the camera will rotate and pan around the room so I can capture all the furniture animating in.
Whilst Jaws and the Isle of Dogs will be shot using more wide frame shots and pans so I can capture all the scenery of the films โ the sea and beach in Jaws and the wasteland in Isle of Dogs.
